In 2006 I covered many more miles then I had for years. On my longest excursion I drove about 1700 miles in a week.

Two Fall Hikes

In October I went on two photographic excursions. The first was with my friend Matt. We hiked up Mt. Taurus in the Hudson Highlands just upriver from West Point Military Academy.

The second trip was with my friend Andrew. We explored a very popular Minnewaska State Park just outside of New Paltz, New York.

Steam Boating

On August 5th, at 9:00 AM I awoke and made a mug of coffee. At 9:10 AM my phone rang. It was Christian.

"Hey, we're going steamboating, come join us," he said. Did I mention my mind doesn't work for a good half hour after I start drinking coffee. "I'll call you back," I said.

I drank my coffee and reflected on the phone call I just received. Hey, I was just invited steamboating! This is something I've been wanting to do for a while. My friend Christian's father Carl builds his own steam engines. I have watched him cast bronze in his driveway for engine parts. I have seen the different versions of the engines he builds sitting in their dining and living rooms. Heck yeah I want to go steam boating!

"Heck yeah I want to go steamboating!" I told Christian when I called him back.

My Road Trip Down South, June, 2006

The trip started with a visit to my friend who lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. From there I drove west to Asheville and up the Blue Ridge Parkway, through Shenadoah National Park and home again.
