Rockefeller Center, December 29
For the first time since I was a child in the '70s, and I believe the fist time after dark, I went to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in New York City. As a friend pointed out to me before I went, it won't be as big as I remember it. And he was right. That doesn't make it any less spectacular.
As far as photography goes, the crowds and nighttime lighting proved to be a challenge. Also, it is impossible to get the iconic photos of the tree unless you are a professional photographer sanctioned to get into the restricted areas. I think I did okay none the less.
As a footnote, I'm pleased to have managed to get three photo albums in this year as I have for the last two years.
Lake Minewaska State Park, May 22
This Memorial Day Weekend, I had the one of the benefits of working for a school district, a snow day giveback on Friday making this a four day weekend. So, Christian and I drove to Lake Minewaska State Park here in New York and hiked some trails we never had before. It took us past Awastoga Falls to Peter's Kill Falls and the old Lake Minewaska Mountain house power plant.
Grand Central Station, March
I joined a photo club to try and inspire myself to take more photos. As luck would have it we had a photo outing at New York's famous Grand Central Station. We spent one Saturday wandering the great halls and snapping photos. Not a subject I would have sought out, it was certainly a nice change of venue.
